Say My Name

Say what I really do for you.

I give you nectar for your sweet tooth.

I give you ambition for your daydreams.

I gave you strength to seek more life when your grandpa died

To seek your life

I held your hand as you learned to walk in your truth,

I bottled your tears for you and used them to water your wildest dreams with the intentional attention you give newborns,

I tended to your gardens when you forgot how to breathe and holding a trowel seemed like the weight of a thousand pennies,

I was there to protect you when you’d force yourself to sleep with toxins that silenced your mind,

Disguised, silly attempts to silence me,

Attempts to avoid the truth you could be worthy of something as pure as me,

Even if it was for a moment.

I stayed patient while you crippled yourself with fearful thoughts of tomorrow,

You had horrible habits of turning to anxiety to help see things through.

Prepared for a shootout

But I keep telling you I’m bulletproof.

I wanted you to turn to me to bring out the stillness in you

I wanted you to call me by my name,

I wanted you to call me by my name,

Call me by my name

But you were scared that it would make me real.

As if a pain free life was something you shouldn’t feel,

As if the suffering you found comfort in treated you better than I did.

I turned your greys into greens,

And your blues into turquoise,

And your hope into certainty,

I’ve made your valleys mountain tops,

I made your bullshit fertilizer.

What more do I have to do for you to call me by my name?

Call me by my name.

I gave you strength,

I gave you courage when you felt shame,

I fed you,

Call me by my name

I nourished you,

Call me by my name

I’ve been getting mixed signals,

You want me but you claim your tongue can’t speak the language that I’ve embodied.

When you know damn well... I can translate.

That guilt is not yours,

Let go and make room for me.

I want to be home again.

Your safe with me,

I’ve been turning tragedy into triumph since you were born, baby boy.

Giving you intentional attention since you were gifted here from your last life.

I’ve never left you blind or led you astray.

The least I deserve is for you to call me by my name.

It’s only four letters, it’s easy

Call me by my name

I am you

Call me by my name

I am the only truth

Call me by my name

I am Love.
