God's Sorrow
What would you want if you could have everything?
Would you wish for diamonds to emerge from the seas,
Or would you ask the dolphins to sing at your wedding?
Would you tip the scales 4 those who never stood a chance?
Revisit your father’s childhood to hold his hand?
Before his heart hardened & life became about his need to prove he’s a man?
Be with him on the day his first son was born,
To heal what the world always wanted him to become?
Would you lift him up?
Would you hug him?
Would you drown him in the softness he reserved for his daughters?
Remove his father’s sins from his conscience?
Would you assure him this experience is nothing to conquer?
Would you throw your mother a 16th birthday party and let her know she is loved and protected?
Affirm her everyday for the next four years in case she second guesses?
Would you nourish her dreams so they don’t die in you?
Would you be more understanding when she hides the truth?
Would you lift her up?
Would you hug her?
Would you surround her with the protection of the father
and pray the warmth removes her mother’s sins from her conscience?
Would you assure in this life she doesn’t have to be the martyr?
Would you intercept the note your dad passed so they never met?
Wish away their traumas so they could focus on living more and surviving less?
If you saw their insecurities up-close,
what would you do to soothe God’s sorrow?
Even if it meant maybe you wouldn’t be here tomorrow?
What would you hold on to if you know it’d wash away in a heavy rain?
What would you want if you could have everything?
