In a lover

I pray I find a lover that can see me when I’m open,

And doesn’t leave me drowning when I’m choking on my emotions,

Whose love gives me courage to love again because this love is sweeter than any bitterness I may taste if I lose...

They give me access to choose.

I wanna be open like presents on Christmas

The special thing on your wish list —the corny shit

And I don’t need someone who came from a healthy home

Just someone who understands the value of healthy soil,

And the contradictions in too much tillage,

What’s meant to be has a way of working itself out,

I’m talking foundations.

The peace I bring you adds to your vaults but never subtracts from mine,

You trust that my mind is just my sacred place to spend time

and there’s nothing in there for you to worry about.

What we have is nothing to hurry about,

I want a love that doesn’t stress me out,

Or test me to see what traumas I have yet to wring out of my DNA.

Nurturing but knows how to give space,

And take space

To grow.

Even when you’re far I feel you close,

I pray for a love that respects that time is just a front,

And knows that all we will ever really have is now.
